This week was the end of of Summer and the end of summer anime as well. The summer line-ups were so fun I’ve already missed them. Let’s see… for summer I watched: Makura no Danshi, Gangsta, Junjou Romantica 3, Okusama ga Seitokaichou, Himouto Umaru-chan, Classroom Crisis, Aoharu x Kikanjuu, Durarara!!x2 Ten, Charlotte, Working!!!, Watchman Crowds insight, Wakako-zake, God Eater, and the continuation of spring leftover: Ace of Diamond 2 and Shokugeki no Soma.

I enjoyed them all but a lot of things happen along the way. For instance, Underwater fansub stopped subbing Gangsta after just 2 episodes. AboveSeaLevel fansub take over but so far they only released up to Episode 5 as we speak. I’m like, what?! At this rate I have no choice but to watch the Funimation version. The only Funi release I watched in summer was Junjou Romantica 3. I miss this series so much. But since nobody fansub it except Aarinfantasy, which takes forever to fansub and their video quality is not that good, I ended up with Funi. The similar thing happened to Durarara!!x2 Ten, in which Vivid cancelled fansubbing the series. I ended up with Crunchyroll release again. Let’s hope there’s someone out there kind enough to sub Part 3 this winter. As for working, I actually haven’t finished watching it because DameDesuYo is like a week late in releasing the show.

Okusama ga Seitokaichou was one of the best. The ecchi-romance story was so cute! I also liked Charlotte in which it ended beautifully I cried. As for God Eater, looks like it’s gonna continue through fall season. It’s simulcasted by Daisuki, which provides a very high quality video even just 720p. Such a feast for eyes. As for Shokugeki no Soma, I hope they make the second season because the story is really good. Last but not least, I decide to drop Ace of Diamond 2 because I don’t feel like watching it anymore. Too long and not quiet in the mood. In conclusion, summer anime line-ups were so fun!

Finally we come to the Fall anime line-ups. Honestly, my list this time is the shortest list ever. There’s actually nothing in this season, I repeat, nothing really excites me head-over-heels. Except… probably Noragami and One-Punch Man pique my curiosity just enough. But let’s see first. Here’s the fall line-ups.

  1. Haikyuu!! 2
  2. K: Returns of Kings
  3. Noragami: Aragoto
  4. One-Punch Man
  5. Owari no Seraph 2
  6. Rakudan Kishi no Eiyuutan
  7. Subete ga F ni Naru

Only seven. OMG seriously, I usually have more than 10 anime to watch for each cour. But even it’s just seven, they are those kind top quality anime (I hope).

PS. After waiting for the whole summer, the spring series Kekkai Sensen will finally air its final episode on October 3rd! This is one of the best anime/manga ever exist!

understanding. motion. conclusion.

Today the official website of Durarara!! revealed that Durarara!!x2 will be split into 3 cours! The first cour, entitled Durarara!!x2 Shou (Understanding), will air on starting January 2015. The second cour, entitled Durarara!!x2 Ten (Motion), will be air on July 2015. And finally the final cour, Durarara!!x2 Ketsu (Conclusion), will air on January 2016. Can you believe this? 39 episodes, split into 3 cours, and scattered through out the whole 2015 and Winter of 2016. This is definitely a feast for my long Durarara!!-related starvation!

Look at those characters in the new Durarara!!x2 PV! The old characters and their voice actors that I’ve been missing, as well as the excitingly new characters, all I can’t wait to see.

First, we got THE MAN a.k.a. the sadistic Orihara Izaya. Hiroshi Kamiya, rock on kudasai!

The Orihara twins finally comes out! They seem sweet.

Ryugamine Mikado the colorless guy! Can’t wait to see how you’ve grown baby!

The freshman, Kuronuma Aoba. He’s an admirer Mikado, I reckon.

I think Celty Sturluson, the Black Rider, is finally falling for Kishitani Shinra. Look at that wide smile of him. Fukujun, nice going!

SONOHARA ANRI and her big boobs! HANAZAWA KANA-SAMA, I’ll always worship you.

Erika and Walker. Yuki Kaji looks goofy in this.

The Yagari-neechan. Namie you look sad darling.

And. Woops. That not so innocent peck. Lovely.

But… WHERE IS THE STRONGEST MAN IN IKEBUKURO, HEIWAJIMA SHIZUO, GONE TO? I could definitely hear Ono Daisuke’s roar in the PV! I bet they’re saving him for a future surprise.

Kami-sama, I can’t wait for this. Winter 0f 2015. What a perfect timing.

Summer is Over / Nagi Starts

summer anime end

Summer is over and so are these beautiful animes. In order of the finale date…

First, there is LOVE STAGE!. This is the only yaoi anime that appeared to be very sweet.

KUROSHITSUJI: BOOK OF CIRCUS. This had a very sad ending because Ciel and his underlings butchered (quite) innocent people in this season. Looking forward for Book of Murder OVA.

TOKYO GHOUL. This is literally the best anime aired in Summer. I have a strong feeling it’s gonna be picked for the 2nd season.

RAIL WARS!. Basically harem show.

HAIKYUU!!. Sport and slice-of-life blended into one epic anime. Running from Spring until Summer, for whole six months i’ve been watching this with full of emotion, only to get my heart shattered in the end. Definitely want to read the manga!

DRAMAtical MURDER. Adapted from yaoi visual novel but turned out to be just a lame shounen-ai anime. Meh.

AO HARU RIDE. Famous seiyuu Kaji Yuki voicing a cool good-looking guy from a shoujo manga. Omoshiroi ja nai ka. But it ended just before the love intrigue could even start.

RE: HAMATORA. Little got bored in the middle of the season but overall it was fine. And there’s a happy ending to it.

GLASSLIP. I’m not sure about the ending.

ZANKYOU NO TERROR. asdfghjkl sad. #crying

TOKYO ESP. Not that impressed with the ending.

Lastly, BARAKAMON. This anime coloured my Summer days and gave me warm feelings! And I adore the OP and ED. Definitely gonna read the manga. SLICE OF LIFE RULES!

It seems like just yesterday that I made post about the end of Nagi seasons (Fall and Winter). So here are the Fall anime I am planning to watch. (in order of premiere date)

  1. Terra Formars
  2. Denki-gai no Honya-san
  3. Danna ga Nani wo Itteru ka Wakaranai Ken
  4. Log Horizon 2
  5. Nanatsu no Taizan
  6. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji
  7. Orenchi no Furo Jijou
  8. Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road
  9. Akatsuki no Yona
  10. Kiseijuu
  12. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
  13. Sanzoku no Musume Ronja

I’m looking forward mostly for Sanzoku no Musume Ronja because it is the first Studio Ghibli’s TV Anime Series, and of course PYCHO-PASS 2! I was looking for something like Kyoukai no Kanata which aired on Fall last year but it seems like there’s none like it. I have anime lists and music playlists all set for the Nagi seasons. I hope the rainy days come soon. I am looking forward to have a nice warm and fuzzy feeling.

Le vent se lève, il faut tenter de vivre.

“The wind is rising! We must try to live.”

When I heard that Hayao Miyazaki was retiring, I was genuinely sad. He is one of the most amazing artists ever exists in the universe and he is making art no more. He has made Studio Ghibli a haven of dreams, happiness, and beautiful things: “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”, “Laputa: Castle in the Sky” (the first official Studio Ghibli film), “My Neighbor Totoro” (which Ghibli’s logo comes from), “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, “Porco Rosso”, “Princess Mononoke”, the Academy Award winner “Spirited Away”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, and “Ponyo”. All those graceful animation features finally have to end with “The Wind Rises”/”Kaze Tachinu” as Miyazaki-sensei’s last work of art.

Just like many previous Ghibli’s animated features, this film is created in the most perfect and most beautiful way. The animation is beautifully drawn and the graphic quality is perfect. But what caught my attention the most are: 1) the motion of every single object in the film (humans, things, animals, natures). I notice that Miyazaki-sensei has a tendency at making motions in the most bizarrely gorgeous and expressive way so that they’d give deep impression to the watchers, and they indeed do. For instance how Jiro shared his dream with Caproni, how the earth eerily quaked, how the wind blew in the hard way, how the weather became a downpour all of sudden, how Naoko was spurting massive blood, how the characters cried at their sincerest ways, and countless other unique details. Everything; every detail is graceful. And 2) the dialogs were delivered beautifully. This is one of Studio Ghibli’s (especially Miyazaki-sensei’s) characteristic that the characters always speak words in simplicity; very subtle, yet if we listen carefully, they have every deep meaning. This uniqueness makes all of Ghibli’s features are simple enough for children to enjoy the films whole-heartedly and at the same time deep enough for older audiences to get the hidden morals, to understand the metaphors, and to feel the implicit meaning of the films.

“The Wind Rises” marked Miyazaki-sensei’s second animated feature to be nominated in the Academy Awards, the first being “Spirited Away” and it won the Award in 2002. I personally think that “The Wind Rises” deserved to win the Award but sadly it lost to Disney’s 2013 animated feature, “Frozen”. But to me, Hayao Miyazaki is always the winner and Studio Ghibli is the best animation studio ever exists in the whole universe. Thank you sensei for all your graceful creations. Thank you for bringing happiness and precious lessons to millions of people. Thank you for encouraging children to, 1) be thankful of being alive despite the world sometimes can be very disappointing, and 2) keep on living even though their hearts may once break. All hail Hayao Miyazaki. All hail Studio Ghibli.
